DANONE SN INDONESIA CONTINUES COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT STUNTING PREVENTION IN CENTRAL JAVA

Nutrition fulfillment assistance for vulnerable groups is expected to help the Central Java government prevent stunting during the COVID-19 pandemic

Jakarta - June 15, 2020, Danone SN (Specialized Nutrition) again provides support to the Central Java Provincial Government for handling the effects of COVID-19. Through a virtual conference, SN Indonesia Danone President Director Connie Ang symbolically handed over 10,000 nutritional products for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children over one year old to the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, S.H., M.IP.

This assistance is a continuation of the support of donations of 30,000 healthy hydration products and 5,000 PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which was submitted on May 13, 2020. A number of this assistance has been distributed to 67 health facilities spread across 28 regencies / cities in Central Java.

Connie appreciated the opportunity given by the Central Java provincial government to the private sector to work together in a joint effort to deal with a pandemic. "The pandemic condition presents various challenges in the health sector, including the problem of stunting and aspects of fulfilling nutrition which is very important for pregnant women and children today and is often overlooked. Our company wants to realize our commitment by contributing to the people of Central Java. One of them is by providing donations of quality and science-based nutritional products that are appropriate to the needs of the community," Connie explained.

In his remarks, Ganjar said that the Central Java provincial government is committed to ensuring that stunting prevention efforts continue even during the pandemic. "Children are a priority because of our future, the future of the nation and the world. Stunting and malnutrition are our records so that children can grow well. We would like to thank Danone Indonesia, the support of nutritional products for these vulnerable stunting groups will foster a sense of unity, inspire humanity and please help to strengthen each other in this difficult situation, "said Ganjar.

Central Java Provincial Government has calculated and has data on the number of people in each village that are vulnerable and need support for good nutrition to avoid stunting. According to the Central Java Provincial Health Office the prevalence of stunting in Central Java is 30 percent and has a target of being reduced by 10 percent in the next 10 years.
